Peace with Prerequisite

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on Thee,
Because He trusteth in Thee.

In the '80s
with guitars in their laps instead of children
a little band of friends
week after week
gathered to share
what tunes the Lord would give
They would sing
the Scriptures together
so they wouldn't forget . . .

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

I think I will forever be humming Isaiah 26:3, Colossians 3:16, Psalm 121, and countless other portions because of those precious evenings spent in song.

Early this morning, while I was exploring music videos with my children, my daughter shared the name of Laura Story with me. My mole-ing around brought me to the song below, and ultimately back to the Scripture songs and the promise of peace. Still humming . . .

Peace . . . it gets my vote.
