Then the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” ~ Numbers 22:27-29
Just my way of saying that my quoting an individual should not be considered an endorsement of that person’s worldview. A few true words may fall from any mouth, even that of an animal.
• I enjoy mowing the lawn, it relaxes me. It gets me outdoors, it's good exercise, the freshly cut grass smells great, and the engine is loud enough that I'm sure no one else can hear my thoughts - or intrude upon them. ~Astrid Alauda
• I always thought a yard was three feet, then I started mowing the lawn. ~C.E. Cowman
• I am thankful for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.... I am thankful for the piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby. ~Nancie J. Carmody
Start early and begin raising the bar throughout the day.
~ Bruce Jenner
Hendel is there in the city Workin’ on her blog ev’ry night and day And I never lost one minute of sleepin’ Worryin’ where her guestbook might have been
Mouse wheel keep on turnin’ This Mole will keep on learnin’ Scrollin’, scrollin’, scrollin’ on the sidebar
Loved to read her blog on MySpace Even ‘bout her trips down to New Orleans But I never saw it have this much potential Til she switched her blog to a better host scene

[A little music to scroll by . . . It’s a good thing, too, because your wonderful, new comment box is way down on that sidebar. I wish you’d move it up a little higher and maybe to the left, but it’s your party; you can sigh if you want to . . . oops, that’s another song. . . and I will refrain. I know you don’t really like filk, but I think you like me. That makes it a little more tolerable, doesn’t it? Please say “yes,” ‘cause I have no control over it, you know. ]
Scrollin’, scrollin’, scrollin’ on the sidebar
[a little more music to help you think about it . . . the naked guy on the left is thinking, too]
If you stay down on the sidebar Bet you gonna find some people who skim You don’t have to worry, ‘less they’re in a hurry People on your Blogger aren’t here on a whim

Why this?
I have a dear friend who has a habit of raising the bar whenever she applies her mind, heart, and hands to a task. She can't help it; it's as natural to her as drinking water.
Logophile that I am, I am driven to this word play when I watch her. I can't help it; it's as natural to me as drinking water.
You don’t need huge followings to influence a niche; you just need the right readers. Suppose you had a political blog, for example, and you had only three readers. They just happened to be the heads of government in the United States, China and Russia, and each read your blog every day, trusted your writings and adjusted their own courses accordingly. How many more readers would you need to be an influence? ~ Shel Israel
A little something for those whom I follow: "On the sidewalks, little mole stalks . . ." No, that won't do. Let me try again.
Little sidebars, busy sidebars. May I scroll for a while? If I skim I'll be feeling I’ve missed much See you laughing Cameras snapping Catching smile after smile and on every hit counter you'll hear
Thank you, well, can you tell I’ve spent some time at your blog, dear? Here’s the thing, hear me sing I like what you have to say.
Strings of comments Offer two cents In a list they are seen As your followers note What they treasure
I’ve a big hunch After my lunch I can click to the scene And above all this bustle You'll hear
Thank you, well, can you tell I’ve spent some time at your blog, dear? Here’s the thing, hear me sing I like what you have to say.
Thank you, well, can you tell I’ve spent some time at your blog, dear? Here’s the thing, hear me sing I like what you have to say.
The system of nature, of which man is a part, tends to be self-balancing, self-adjusting, self-cleansing. Not so with technology. ~E.F. Schumacher, Small is Beautiful, 1973
Then sing with me: . . . the day the printer died You started singing, “Bye-bye, Hewlett-Packard can fly Through the window and continue And then when you ask why Them good old boys that sold it to you reply, ‘We’ve another model that you can buy, Another model that you can buy . . .’ ”
And if you'd like some background accompaniment, Don McLean (below) is all cued up to just the right spot for you. Of course, you will have to disregard his lyrics for this to work.
If I only had a bit more time, I would finish the song. Alas, this will have to do.
